4-DOF Wireless Underwater Combustion-Driven Soft Robot | Senior Capstone | Houston, TX                                Aug 2024 – Apr 2025

● Designed and fabricated a 5 kg 4-DOF underwater robot only within a $600 budget, without rotating machinery via a tetherless Arduino system with onboard power to control buoyancy, roll, pitch, and combustion propulsion using only electrolyzer gas actuation

● Miniaturized three modular H2/O2 gas-powered Buoyancy Control Devices (BCDs), engineering density-tuned, hydrodynamic, sealed geometries to achieve neutral buoyancy, stable depth control, and 3 hours of continuous 100% watertight underwater operation

● Routed and integrated the same H2/O2 gas to a custom piston-cylinder combustion propulsion system with a custom high voltage ignition circuit to produce 15 N of linear thrust and 3 m/s² of linear acceleration, enabling forward motion underwater 

Autonomous Martian Rover Arm | Robotics Laboratory | Houston, TX                                                                     Apr 2024 – May 2024

● Simulated a 6-DOF rover arm simulation in Python, analytically deriving DH parameters, forward and inverse kinematics, and RNEA dynamics without using external libraries, to autonomously locate, drill, and retrieve Martian soil samples

● Performed stress and fatigue analyses using Goodman and Gerber criteria across dynamic drilling load cases, validating a 66,000+ cycle lifespan, optimized gear boxes, and calculated a 1.85 bolted joint separation safety factor

● Implemented custom IK angle-selection algorithm and tuned PID gains for stable autonomous trajectory execution

Proprietary Robotic Head and Arm | Product Development Client | Houston, TX                                                        July 2024 – Aug 2024

● Developed custom confidential CAD models of a proprietary robotic head and arm for the client’s proprietary needs

Magnetic Levitation and Power Transmission System | Independent | Houston, TX                                                 Jun 2022 – July 2022

● Fabricated a closed-loop, analog circuit control system using 741 op-amps to dynamically levitate a 50+ gram payload at a 1-inch air gap, achieving stable position control without any microcontroller or digital processing

● Developed a 75W+ inductive wireless power transfer circuit to transmit continuous power across the levitation air gap, using an astable 555 timer, custom-built coils, and a low-pass filter and diode to wirelessly power an LED

● Reduced electromagnetic interference between the wireless power transfer field and inductor field, maintaining stable levitation

● Delivered $10,000+ in value across ~10 NDA commercial designs for 13 clients, including NOV, converting concept sketches into manufacturing-ready models, drawings, and patent illustrations with a 100% success rate

● Redesigned a proprietary key holder system ground-up, consolidating a multi-part assembly into a single injection mold and reducing off-shelf components to cut injection molding and assembly cost by 30%

R&D Mechanical Subteam Lead | Rice Robotics Club | Houston, TX                                                                            Aug 2024 – Apr 2025

● Co-led mechanical design, across a 10+ person team, to design and fabricate a leg of a quadruped to vertically jump 16in using dual AKE-60 motors and a coupled four-bar linkage, all while teaching CAD, mechanisms, and theory to members of the team

● Wrote a MATLAB script that simulated the legs kinematics using closed loop analytical derivations to visualize its jumping gait and understand motor velocity and torque, while also deriving the EOMs and using linkage synthesis to evaluate the best link lengths

● Coordinated with fellow leads to run weekly meetings, refine meeting structure for stronger member engagement, establish BOMs, and maintain an integrated timeline, sustaining project momentum through the academic year
